The Genesee Valley Chorus will offer a wide-variety of music when it performs at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Congregational Church in Wellsville. The performance, titled “Kaleidoscope,” will boast vocalists performing spiritual and gospel songs in the 1st half of the concert. Soloist Karen Copp will do the gospel song “Just Tell Them as You Saw Me I got on My Way,” coiffed by Gaither, and there also will be a pastiche of old-time religious songs Later intermission, the singers will bid well-known songs by the 1930s-60s. Some of the melodies hearers can look ahead to are “Walkin’ My Baby Back Home” by Roy Turk and Fred Ahlert; “Don’t Get Around a good deal Anymore” by Bob Russel and Duke Ellington; and “I do not Know Why,” which will be executed by Mary Sterling. From the ’sixties music beat, Dana and Sue Ross leave sing “When I Fall In Love” from Victor Young and Edward Heyman. The songs “Who can buoy I Turn To” and a “Cavalcade of love song* of the 1950s” will as well be sung. The 35-voice Genesee Valley Chorus is addressed by former Wellsville High School music instructor John “Jack” Darr. Darr has spent several years directing the choir. “This is attending be a very fine concert with music that I believe everyone will like,” he said. Carol Aldrich, early director at Scio Central School, who has as well recorded solo music, will attach to the chorus. The president of the chorus is Sharlet Fuller. While admission charge to the performance is free, contributions will be accepted. The Genesee Valley Chorus is among the oldest bearing on choral aggroups in the area. It was started in the early seventies to perform for the nation’s bicentenary celebration. The group has performed alfresco of the area at music festivals and competitions. The performance is part funded by the NY Council On The Arts
